8 Boudoir Themes You Didn’t Know About…
In our last blog, we introduced you to five Boudoir styles, but as we said there are countless others! Boudoir is a personal exploration of yourself and what you love/what you want to love about yourself - which means that every experience is totally unique, both in how they look and what they mean. Cool/Grungy
Are you more Doc Martens than heels? More leather jacket over lace? More “f*ck it” than floral? Then we think we’ve the style just for you. This is where we can capture that side of you that feels rebellious and a bit rough around the edges so bring in the boots and the leathers. It’s not to say you won’t feel sexy, you will - but just within your own terms. We can go for bold, strong poses, and something that feels a bit more editorial and edgy. Using the steel always looks incredible with this style, have a look below.
Evening Dresses or Fur Coat?
Do you want to feel sophisticated and elegant? Do you want to capture yourself in a style that feels timeless and totally classic? Then we wholeheartedly recommend this style. Bring your very best dress, whether it’s cocktail, evening or ballroom. This is a perfect opportunity to wear the dress that you never have the opportunity to take off the hanger - but you always wish you could wear. This is the type of photoshoot that also truly creates a beautiful heirloom for future generations. We also love the womanly strength that comes with these shoots; there’s something so powerful about these photos.
Nude
Nude shoots have become more and more popular and there’s great reason for it; they are truly one for the bucket list. There is something amazing about totally stripping down that other styles don’t quite capture. The act of removing your clothes, of being bold enough to stand there in your most natural form - it embodies so much; it is so elegant, it is so timeless in it’s beauty and it captures a notion of self-love in a way that is almost spiritual. No matter your size, no matter your age, no matter anything; it’s something we feel everyone should experience at least once. Plus, you don’t have to worry about outfits at all!
Sporty!
Exercise is a very important part of a lot of people’s lives - it gives them time for themselves, it keeps them feeling strong and healthy, it supports them mentally and it gives them confidence in themselves too. We’ve loved the shoots that we’ve done where women choose to wear their sports kit or bring in medals and equipments. It’s that beautiful overlap between sexy and strong, whilst also capturing a fierceness, a determination and a drive. Please do not let any insecurity get to you either - you do not need to be an athlete to enjoy a sporty Boudoir theme.
Geek Chic
Something we’ve had a lot of fun doing in the past is using Boudoir to celebrate people’s hobbies and one in particular that comes back again and again is comic books and superhero films. To list a few examples, we’ve had people wear their cosplay outfits, or we’ve projected a scene from Harry Potter onto a wizarding-world-mad Diva, we’ve had a Diva lie on her countless comic books, we’ve styled a shoot around The Black Widow… there are so many options! So whether you’d want to subtly nod to your interests or go full out, there are so many ways we can have fun with it.
Couples
Now this is a fun one… bring your partner in! You can choose whether you go for something more steamy and wear underwear, or you can choose our Forever Session which is more like classic portraiture, capturing moments which focus on your connection, an intimacy, a sense of humour - moments which simply say “this person here is, and always, will. be my best friend.” Whichever style you go for, it’s a special experience to dedicate that time in each other - and if you go for the more spicy option, you may want to book a babysitter for after because you won’t want to go home and play Scrabble! It’s also a perfect way to reconnect with your partner if you feel like day to day life has got in the way a little bit - it happens and there’s no shame in it, but this is a really special way of truly seeing each other again.
Arty
No matter the style you go for, you will end up with nothing less than a piece of art. It’s what we are known for and it’s what we do best. However, there is also the really exciting potential to go for something which is deliberating very artistic; something which at first seems quite obscure or anonymous. For example, we could capture a landscape of your body or details, like a close up of your collarbone, or the side of your face with light highlighting your lips, or maybe something reminiscent of nude paintings that you would see up in a gallery… I recently had a shoot myself and went for something quite similar, I’ll put some examples below.
Whatever else…
If you can think it, chances are, we can do it. We could continue creating these blogs for a lifetime because there are simply so many options. Through our Discovery Calls, we will learn more about you and begin to tailor the experience but please never be afraid to bring your own ideas to us. We love to hear them.
